This is my last post for this physical site. Never fear though, this isn’t a swan song. I will still continue to keep Magic Teepee’s Facebook and Twitter active, and of course I will continue writing pieces for the glorious PORTALS. Thanks for coming on this journey with me. Until we meet again (another time, another space).

The band TOPS has stolen my heart in 2012, so it’s only right that they release a video that does as well! The video for “Turn Your Love Around” was shot at a secondary school that has a dance class for deaf students. If you watch closely you’ll notice that large speakers vibrate a mirror that’s on the dance floor, which then acts to mimic the song visually for the students. One word: amazing.
I’m typing this post on the eve of GOLDRUSH Music Festival 2012, a festival I founded and co-run with two amazing friends back in Colorado. If you’re in Denver, make sure you come. We (especially Crawford) went above and beyond in all the right ways this year! We have so many off the wall artists and incredible little treats in store for the weekend. Just announced today is the free day shows for GOLDRUSH to be held at Wax Trax in Denver from 2-6 PM on Friday and 12-4 PM on Saturday.
Tickets are still available for the actual festival at Deer Pile right, grab them while you still can here! I would make sure you buy a ticket before heading to Deer Pile, as the venue is only 150 person capacity and we only have a few tickets left at this point. GOLDRUSH fever!!!
To all the artists – Barn Owl (San Francisco, CA), Ttotals (Nashville, TN), Caddywhompus (New Orleans, LA), StaG (Boulder, CO), Panabrite (Seattle, WA), Discoverer (Kansas City, MO), Former Selves (Oakland, CA), Echo Beds (Denver, CO), Alphabets (Denver, CO), Aloonaluna (San Francisco, CA), M. Sage (Ft. Collins, CO) The Kevin Costner Suicide Pact (Denver, CO), Outlands (Blacksburg, VA), Kick Majestic (Ft. Collins, CO), Vyxor (Berkeley, CA), Radere (Boulder, CO) Breakfastes (Denver, CO), and my good friends… I can’t freaking wait! I will see you tomorrow night (and the next)!
Here’s an awesome collage of footage that will transport you to the sweaty day to-night hustle within the smiling country of Jamaica. “Get Free” featuring Amber Coffman of Dirty Projectors (definitely one of my favorite tracks from this year) is Major Lazer‘s first single from their new LP Free the Universe which drops on November 6th.
I found this video because one of my friends said he was featured on Jay Z’s blog Life + Times. While I’m not necessarily searching for Edward Sharpe video’s I will say two things: 1.) this video inspired me, and 2.) Here, the new LP by Alex Ebert and Co. is zen-as-f*ck. Credits to this video run deep (no wonder I though it was well done): Brady Corbet directed it (co-star in 2011’s Melancholia and Martha Marcy May Marlene) and cinematography was done by Jody Lee Lipes (new HBO series Girls). I might as well add that half of Here was recorded in mystical land of Ojai, CA… and oh yes, The Magnetic Zero’s are most definitely from L.A.
The first time I heard the track “Hurricane” by Brooklyn band MS MR, I though it was very catchy… But after finally watching the video, I thought I needed to post it. Pure ear and eye candy at it’s finest. If you dig what you see in the video, click around their tumblr… Hot models and crystals galore!
